#2 Advice on Academic Writing



This last week, I had the experience of plunging into a nurturing text that gave us some advice on writing an essay. I consider this task a good opportunity to refresh the use of some digital tools…such as power point. Anyway, I combined it with a program I normally use in design, Illustrator. I believe that the most difficult part was dealing with a great amount of data and become aware when editing, identify what was meaningful and what not. I was a great surprise to discover new pieces of information about writing, planning, organizing and fundamentally, tips to avoid plagiarism.
We, as students must be constantly revising and controlling our piece of work, to produce a good paper, essay or any kind of investigation file.

#6 S.F.L. Systemic Functional Linguistics

1- Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) / Grammar What is SFL? SFL is a linguistic theory in which language is viewed from a functional perspective. It looks at how language is used to achieve certain communicative goals 1 . SFL scholars consider language as inseparable from context and they argue that people make different linguistic choices based on the subject matter of their text, who their interlocutor is, and whether the language is spoken or written- known in SFL as the field, tenor, and mode 2 . Field, tenor, and mode work together to build three different types of meaning simultaneously within the text: experiential or ideational, interpersonal, and textual 3 .
